Vung ma - Ben vang
2099
Ha!?!

by Chiem

Mixed media
100 x 150 x 150 cm

From contemplating about organizing his own funeral before dying, Chiêm envisages a hypothetical future in 2099, projecting a personal view of a funeral for the current young generation. Votive paper made from dry leaves, pressed into small flower or star shapes; The coffin with a strange shape, decorated with colorful binary codes and candles; The tombstone is replaced
by a video presentation about the death of a conversation. These peculiarities partly reflect the difference in thinking between generations as well as the rapid and continuous changes and movements of society in a century with many fluctuations.
Audience-artwork interaction is encouraged. You can use the paper press available at the exhibition to press the dry leaves into flower shapes to scatter on the coffin or take home. With the candles, you can light them, make a wish or convey a message you want to hear or want to be heard, and then blow them out.
